I was scheduled to preach at an anniversary service for a church in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Sunday, September 23. Unfortunately, I was not able to make it as all the roads had flooded thanks to hurricane Florence. Furthermore, the church had cancelled the service. Since I already had my pulpit covered, I decided to use the time to take off an explore, via kayak, the north end of Cumberland Island. In the recent issue of The Skinnie, I tell about my experiences there. They’ve published a number of my writings, but this time used only a few photos. Below are a sampling of other photos from that wonderful trip.

Beautiful pictures! I’d like to visit Cumberland. That’s a place that’s been on my list for a while. Really like the Old African Church. So simple. I didn’t know the Kennedy wedding was held there.
I didn’t know which Kennedy wedding you were referring to, so I had to do a little research. Fascinating!
Beautiful skies, both morning and evening.
Kelly, I mentioned it in the linked article. Sadly, the two of them died about two years later flying to another wedding.
I did go look at your article. Very nice!
These are lovely photographs you’ve shared.
Thanks for the link to your excellent article.
All the best Jan
lovely photos, it’s always nice to find yourself with unexpected free time to be able to use to take a trip
It’s absolutely beautiful there. I loved the sunset.
You always go on the best adventures. That beach looks relaxing. I haven’t been to many beaches, but the ones I’ve gone to were really crowded.
Wonderful photos! The boathouse looks quite eerie. I love the beach, water, and sky shots.
